Run For Kids 6K (072510)

by: Ruby Anne E. Sison

I have waited almost two weeks for the fun run that took place last July 25, 2010. It was our first time to join a marathon and I was already very excited days before. Mitch and I registered in the 6K division. There were also the 3K and 15K divisions. Registration were 250 pesos for 3K and 6K runs, while it's 300 pesos for 15K. Proceeds will go to the Children's Hour organization. It was a very memorable experience. Aside from being my first marathon, it was just the atmosphere of being with people as ecstatic as I am trying to spend the most of that Sunday morning. People from all walks of life gathered together. Kids as young as 3 years old joined the run with their mommies and daddies. I was even surprised they finished the 3k run.

The runners for the 15k run were the first to run. Then both 3k and 6k runners followed and started the same time. I have to admit, it was quite a long time since I jogged so I was having a hard time finishing the race. I pushed myself hard and in the end, I managed to finish the run. To no surprise, Mitch also finished the run and we arrived at the finish line together.

After all the runners were done with the race, there was a short program that followed. There were raffle prizes given away and of course the much awaited awarding of the winners of each category. Special awards were also given to the oldest runner in the race and to those who wore the best costumes. It was a healthy way to start that Sunday for me and I hope to continue it.

I believe it will be the first of many marathons that we will be joining. Next month I am hoping that we will be able to join in another marathon.
